Cité Soleil of is one of the poorest slum areas in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Notorious as a place where children ate mud cakes, it was devastated by the earthquake. The Wesleyan School of Cité Soleil has been operating for many years. In the midst of civil unrest in this area, the school was able to provide a place of learning and stability for the children. The school building was severely damaged and had to be completely torn down.
